Done for you, from raw files to finished cut
Orcast aligns recordings using shared audio and builds the multicam cut. Results depend on the recording: check sync and camera choices before export; adjust them when needed.
Each speaker's mic drives their camera: whoever is talking is on screen. Crosstalk and long monologues go to the wide shot, like a director would call it.
Have the speech recognised and you get a transcript of the episode — the subtitles arrive as a separate SRT file next to the recording they were recognised from, not burned into the picture. Speech recognition runs over the internet only: the audio of the recording you picked goes to a cloud service — never the video.
Your video files are never uploaded — only technical audio data leaves the computer, and Orcast's online engine works out the cut plan from it. That is why the app needs an internet connection and a free email sign-in.
The cut lands on an editable timeline: change any shot, then export a finished mp4 or a layered timeline in an interchange XML (FCP7 XML) that Premiere Pro and DaVinci Resolve open directly. The first 5 minutes export for free; Pro lifts the length limit to the whole episode.
What Orcast deliberately does not automate
Honesty first: Orcast automates the mechanical layer of the edit — it doesn't reinvent your show. It won't cut words out of your conversation, add music and intros, or color-grade your footage. That's creative work, and it stays in your hands — in Orcast's timeline or in your editor of choice.

Is there an app that edits podcasts automatically?

How does it know who is speaking?
From your microphones. When each speaker has their own mic, Orcast can tell who is talking at any moment and puts that person's camera on screen — and goes to the wide shot when people talk over each other.
Do I lose control over the edit?
No. The automatic cut lands on a timeline where every shot can be changed, and you can export a layered timeline to Premiere Pro or DaVinci Resolve to refine it by hand.
Does it remove filler words or silences?
No — Orcast automates the multicam layer: sync, camera switching and the wide shot. It doesn't re-write your conversation, so the pacing of your show stays exactly as you recorded it.
